Dr. Shashank Shekhar

An expert in developing and managing biological research technologies in the area of Bioinformatics & Computational Biology. I have substantial experience in managing government-funded research projects. I also have vast experience in designing and customizing high-performance computing systems for scientific research and developing cutting-edge bioinformatics software/tools.

I've worked on various projects at the national and international levels. Apart from managing R&D activities and other associated work, I have played an instrumental role in the development of multiple indigenous software suites in the area of genomics, proteomics, & computer-aided drug design. The prime highlights of my career so far include setting up a biological grid between IIT Delhi and CBRC in 2008 as part of the Indo-Japan joint research project, establishing a Center of Excellence (CoE) at IIT Delhi in 2013, and collaborating with the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) in 2019 to host the indigenously developed software suites at IIT Delhi on the NSM platform, which aligns with the government's Make in India initiative.
