Indian Metabolome Data Archive – IMDA

Unlocking Biochemical Pathways with the Metabolome Database

At the Indian Biological Data Centre, there’s a database called the Metabolome Database. It’s a goldmine for researchers who exploring metabolic workings. The database is loaded with extensive metabolomic facts which triggers progress in biology systems, sickness studies, and bio creation. This way, new discoveries keep popping up!

What is a Metabolome Database?

The Indian Metabolome Database is a repository to catalogue a metabolomics data derived from MS(Mass Spectrometer) & NMR(Nuclear Magnetic Resonance). This database brings together a wide variety of Metabolomics data and biochemical compounds across the species.

Features of the Indian Biological Data Centre’s Metabolome Database

  1. Indian Metabolome Data Archive (IMDA) is an open-access platform for
archiving, managing and sharing metabolomics data and associated experimental
metadata generated through analytical techniques such as Mass Spectrometer
(MS) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR).
  2. Indian Metabolome Data Archive (IMDA) contains structures and
    annotations of biologically relevant metabolites.
  3. Levels of Data at Indian Metabolome Data Archive
a). Raw data: The spectrometric, spectrographic and chromatographic data as created by the instrument software with the description of the platform and vendor’s software version.
b). Analytical or processed data: Analyzed or processed data includes the information of software’s and algorithms used to analyze the raw data.
c). Final result matrix : Result matrix must contain the measured known and unknown metabolites with their associated parameters (m/z value, retention index, MS peak height, MS peak area etc.) identified in the study.
d). The metadata file: Metadata file may contain the description of project, study, sample preparation, storage and extraction including the source, organism and cell line information. It may also contain the details of instrument and software used to generate the data.
  4. IMDA database supports raw as well as derived file formats of
    metabolomics studies
  5. A unique and persistent IBDC accession will be assigned on data
    submission to IMDA.

Importance of the Metabolome Database

Metabolome databases are indispensable to understanding the complex network of biochemical reactions that sustain life. Supports use in drug discovery Identification of biological indicators agricultural improvement and environmental science Researchers rely on metabolic data to unravel disease mechanisms.
