- Abstract: Culture-dependent and culture-independent methods were utilized to comprehensively explore the microbial community diversity within the Tso Moriri-Changthang Plateau lake-desert ecosystem. The culture-dependent approach focused on isolating and characterizing cultivable microbial species, while the culture-independent techniques, such as metagenomic analysis, allowed for a more holistic understanding of the microbial communities, including those that are not easily cultured. Together, these methodologies provided a deeper insight into the composition and functional potential of the microbiome in this unique and extreme environmental setting.
