- Abstract: Metagenome samples were collected from environmental samples in the East India region across different seasons to investigate microbial contributions to biogenic oil seepage and natural oil production. The analysis identified specific microbial species associated with hydrocarbon biosynthesis, along with key metabolic pathways and chemical compounds involved in the generation of biogenic oil. Seasonal variation influenced both the abundance of these species and the activity of pathways linked to hydrocarbon synthesis. These findings provide insight into how microbial communities regulate seasonal patterns of biogenic oil seepage in this region through their metabolic functions.
