  • Abstract: Oscillatoria salina IICB1 is a marine cyanobacterium studied for its stress responses. It was subjected to different doses of salt and nitrogen to investigate its coping mechanisms and behavior. The organism was stressed using complete depletion of nitrogen and salt, as well as all possible combinations of these nutrient limitations. Since these organisms are photoperiodic, their behavior was also examined under light and dark conditions. Because the effects of stress become visible only after gene translation, a time point prior to protein expression was chosen to study the transcriptional patterns. Two time points - an early point at 0 hours and a later point at 24 hours - were selected for analysis. All experiments were performed in biological duplicates. The naming of the raw reads itself indicates the stress conditions, time points, and replicate information. Illumina short-read sequencing was carried out to analyze the RNA extracted from both control and treated conditions.
