- Abstract: The commercially important red algae, Kappaphycus alvarezii grow well in nutrient limited water. The present study aimed to isolate bacteria, particularly nitrogen-fixing bacteria associated with algae, using designated media and characterize them by amplifying the nifH and 16S rRNA genes. These nitrogen-fixing bacteria could be applied in seaweed cultivation, which is an emerging focus area with considerable economic benefits for coastal communities.
