Project Title: Characterization of Genetic Resources: Mainstreaming rice landraces diversity in varietal development through genome-wide association studies; A model for large scale utilization of gene bank collections of rice
Project Description: Harnessing the natural variation for photosynthetic efficiency and associated traits across Indian rice accessions to identify genetic loci that could possibly be exploited to increase leaf photosynthetic efficiency. This will involve high-throughput filed phenotyping of photosynthesis and related physiological traits, association of the phenotypes to resequencing-generated SNP genotype to identify robust markers, and validation of the identified markers using suitable mapping population.
